From the cable to the operating system.
My hands-on work includes assembling and upgrading PCs and servers, installing and replacing CPUs, RAM and HDD/SSD drives, testing equipment and diagnosing hardware faults. I work with RAID, storage, NAS and backup and recovery systems. The physical side matters too: installing equipment in racks, running Ethernet and structured cabling, crimping RJ-45 connectors, and using hand and power tools to complete the installation.
On the systems side, my experience covers Windows Server 2003, 2008 R2, 2012, 2019 and 2025, VMware ESXi and Hyper-V. Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP are part of that foundation. I configure and support networks using MikroTik, D-Link and pfSense, work with VPN connections, and have experience with FreePBX and Asterisk for telephony.
Continuing into cloud and code.
My toolkit also includes AWS services—EC2, S3, VPC, IAM and Route 53—and container tools Docker, Docker Hub and Docker Compose. I work with Git and GitHub, VS Code, Jenkins, Terraform and Ansible, with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring. Python, PowerShell and Bash are my scripting tools; I also have programming knowledge in C++, Delphi, Assembly and HTML.
A foundation in education. A habit of learning.
I earned a diploma in Information Technologies at an IT college in Russia, then continued with training in Windows Server administration, MikroTik and D-Link networking. Later, DevOps training in the United States expanded that foundation into cloud infrastructure and automation. It is a continuation of the same path: understanding the tools well enough to apply them to the work in front of me.
